📜 Short History:
56 Brewing is a microbrewery located in Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. The brewery was founded by Kale and Kerry Johnson in 2015. The name "56 Brewing" was inspired by the couple's home address, 56, and their love for home brewing.
The brewery started as a small-scale operation, with the Johnsons initially brewing beer in their garage. They later expanded to a 700-square-foot space in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, before moving to their current location in Northeast Minneapolis.
56 Brewing is known for its variety of craft beers, with a focus on sourcing local ingredients. Their beer selection includes a range of styles, from IPAs and stouts to lagers and ales. Some of their popular brews include the NE Nectar, a honey wheat ale, and the Solarama Crush, a double IPA brewed with honey from solar-powered hives.
In 2017, 56 Brewing expanded their operation, opening a new 2,000-square-foot taproom in Northeast Minneapolis. The new space allowed them to increase their production capacity and offer a wider selection of beers.
The brewery has also been involved in various community initiatives. For instance, they have partnered with the University of Minnesota Bee Lab for their Solarama Crush beer, using honey from solar-powered hives to promote sustainable brewing practices.
As of now, 56 Brewing continues to operate in Northeast Minneapolis, contributing to the vibrant craft beer scene in the city.
