The name "Black Hog" was inspired by the Berkshire pig, a rare breed of domestic pig originating from the English county of Berkshire. The Berkshire pig is also known as the "Black Hog".
Jason and Tom Sobocinski come from a background in the food and restaurant industry. Jason is the owner of Caseus Fromagerie Bistro, a renowned cheese-focused restaurant in New Haven, Connecticut, while Tom has a background in commercial real estate.
