π Short History:
Black Plague Brewing is a craft beer brewery and taproom located in Oceanside, California. It was founded by Jordan Hoffart, a professional skateboarder, and Jarred Doss, a business and marketing professional, in 2015. The name "Black Plague" was chosen to reflect the founders' desire to spread their beer like the Black Plague spread across Europe in the Middle Ages.
The brewery officially opened its doors to the public in June 2017. Since then, it has been producing a variety of beers, including ales, IPAs, and stouts. The brewery's branding and beer names often have a dark, medieval theme, reflecting the Black Plague name.
Black Plague Brewing has won several awards for its beers. For example, in 2018, their "Tropicus Pale Ale" won a gold medal at the San Diego International Beer Festival.
The brewery also has a strong connection to the skateboarding community, due in part to co-founder Jordan Hoffart's professional skateboarding career. The taproom features a variety of skateboarding memorabilia, and the brewery often hosts skateboarding events and collaborations.
As of 2022, Black Plague Brewing continues to operate in Oceanside, serving a variety of craft beers to the local community and beyond.
