π Short History:
Blackfoot River Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Helena, Montana, United States. It was founded in 1998 by three homebrewers: Brian Smith, Greg Wermers, and Brad Simshaw. The trio had a shared passion for brewing and decided to turn their hobby into a business. They named the brewery after the Blackfoot River, a major river in Montana known for its trout fishing.
The brewery started in a small location with a seven-barrel brewing system. The founders did all the brewing and ran the taproom themselves. Their first beer was an English-style bitter, which remains a staple in their beer lineup.
In 2008, Blackfoot River Brewing moved to a larger location in downtown Helena to accommodate their growing business. The new location included a larger brewing system and a bigger taproom. The brewery continued to grow and in 2014, they expanded their brewing capacity again with the addition of a 20-barrel brewing system.
Blackfoot River Brewing Company is known for its commitment to quality and sustainability. They use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and recycle their spent grain by giving it to local farmers for animal feed. The brewery also donates a portion of their sales to local charities and community organizations.
As of now, Blackfoot River Brewing Company continues to operate in Helena, Montana, offering a variety of beers in their taproom and distributing their products throughout the state.
