Blackfoot River Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Helena, Montana, United States. It was founded in 1998 by three homebrewers: Brian Smith, Greg Wermers, and Brad Simshaw. The trio had a shared passion for brewing and decided to turn their hobby into a business. They named the brewery after the Blackfoot River, a major river in Montana known for its trout fishing.

The brewery started in a small location with a seven-barrel brewing system. The founders did all the brewing and ran the taproom themselves. Their first beer was an English-style bitter, which remains a staple in their beer lineup.

In 2008, Blackfoot River Brewing moved to a larger location in downtown Helena to accommodate their growing business. The new location included a larger brewing system and a bigger taproom.
