Birthplace of American Craft Beer • Jamaica Plain, MA
Back to BreweriesSamuel Adams Boston brewery tour takes you to the original Jamaica Plain facility where Jim Koch launched the American craft beer revolution in 1984. This educational experience includes three beer samples, a souvenir glass, and a deep dive into brewing science and history.
The Samuel Adams Boston brewery tour begins in the original 1980s pilot brewery where Jim Koch brewed the first batches of Boston Lager. You’ll learn about malt, hops, yeast, and the brewing process through interactive displays and live demonstrations.
The highlight is the tasting room, where you’ll sample core beers like Boston Lager, Golden Pilsner, and seasonal releases. The Brewmaster Tour adds food pairings and access to experimental “Brewer’s Dozen” small-batch beers.
"Book the Classic Tour on a weekday morning for the smallest crowds. If you're a serious beer geek, splurge on the Brewmaster Tour—it includes rare barrel-aged samples not available elsewhere. Don’t miss the gift shop for exclusive Boston-only merchandise!"
