π Short History:
Charter Oak Brewing Company LLC is a craft beer brewery located in Danbury, Connecticut, USA. The company was founded by P. Scott Vallely in 2011. The name of the brewery is inspired by the historic Charter Oak, a large white oak tree that was used as a hiding place for Connecticut's Royal Charter of 1662 to protect it from being confiscated by English governor-general Sir Edmund Andros.
The brewery initially started as a contract brewing company, which means they brewed their beer at another brewery's facility. They brewed their first batch of beer, the 1687 Brown Ale, in June 2012. This was followed by the release of Royal Charter Pale Ale and Wadsworth India Pale Ale.
In 2018, Charter Oak Brewing Company opened its own brewing facility in Danbury, Connecticut. The 10,000 square foot facility includes a 20-barrel brewing system, a taproom, and a retail area. The taproom allows visitors to taste the beers on-site and the retail area offers beer to go, as well as merchandise.
The brewery's beers are distributed in several states across the Northeastern United States. Charter Oak Brewing Company is known for producing a variety of beer styles, including ales, lagers, stouts, and IPAs. They also produce limited release and seasonal beers.
As of the present day, Charter Oak Brewing Company continues to operate in Danbury, contributing to the local economy and the craft beer industry in Connecticut.
