Epic Brewing Company, LLC was founded in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2010 by David Cole and Peter Erickson. The duo had a shared passion for craft beer and decided to start their own brewery. Epic Brewing Company was the first brewery in Utah since Prohibition to brew exclusively high alcohol content beer. This was made possible by a change in Utah law in 2008, which allowed breweries to produce beer with higher alcohol content than the previously allowed 4% ABV (alcohol by volume).
In 2013, Epic Brewing expanded its operations by opening a second brewery in the River North district of Denver, Colorado. This expansion allowed the company to increase its brewing capacity and distribution reach.
