π Short History:
HailStorm Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Tinley Park, Illinois, United States. The brewery was founded by Chris Schiller and Brandon Banbury, who were homebrewers before they decided to start their own commercial brewery.
The idea for HailStorm Brewing Company was conceived in 2011, and after two years of planning, the brewery officially opened its doors to the public in 2013. The name "HailStorm" was inspired by a powerful hailstorm that hit the area in 2011, around the same time the founders were brainstorming names for their new venture.
HailStorm Brewing Company operates out of a 20,000 square foot facility, which includes a taproom and a production area. The brewery uses a 20-barrel brewing system, and it has a fermentation capacity of 100 barrels.
HailStorm is known for its wide variety of beer styles, including IPAs, stouts, lagers, and barrel-aged beers. One of their most popular beers is the "Vlad the Conquistador", a Russian Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels.
In 2016, HailStorm's "Prairie Madness" IPA won the gold medal in the American-Style India Pale Ale category at the Great American Beer Festival, one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the United States.
As of the present day, HailStorm Brewing Company continues to be a popular destination for craft beer enthusiasts in the Chicagoland area and beyond.
