π Short History:
Land-Grant Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Columbus, Ohio, United States. The company was founded by Walt Keys, Adam Benner, and Quintin Jessee. The idea for the brewery was conceived in 2012 when the founders launched a Kickstarter campaign under the name "Oval Brewing." The campaign was successful, raising over $30,000 to help fund the project.
In 2014, the founders changed the name to Land-Grant Brewing Company, a nod to the Land-Grant Act of 1862, which provided public lands to states to establish colleges. This was a tribute to their alma mater, The Ohio State University, a land-grant institution.
The brewery officially opened its doors in the Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus on October 18, 2014. Since then, Land-Grant has become known for its wide variety of craft beers, including IPAs, stouts, and lagers, among others. They also have a strong commitment to sustainability and community involvement.
In 2017, Land-Grant Brewing Company opened a second location at John Glenn Columbus International Airport, allowing travelers to enjoy their craft beers.
The brewery has also been involved in collaborations with local businesses and organizations. For example, they've partnered with the Columbus Crew SC, a Major League Soccer team, to create "Glory," a American wheat ale, and "Massive," a Juicy Pale Ale.
As of now, Land-Grant Brewing Company continues to operate in Columbus, contributing to the city's vibrant craft beer scene.
