Latchkey Brewing Co. is a craft brewery located in San Diego, California. It was founded by brothers Matt and Gerald Doll and their childhood friend Anthony Pryor. The brewery officially opened its doors in 2018.
The name "Latchkey" is a nod to the founders' upbringing in the 80s and 90s, a time when many kids were often referred to as "latchkey kids" because they would come home from school to an empty house while their parents were still at work. The founders wanted to create a brewery that felt like a welcoming home for all, hence the name.
The brewery is located in the historic Mission Brewery Plaza, which was originally built as a brewery in 1913, but was shut down during Prohibition. The building has housed several breweries over the years, and Latchkey Brewing Co. is proud to continue the tradition.
