π Short History:
Lazy Magnolia Brewing Co, LLC is a craft brewery located in Kiln, Mississippi, USA. It was founded by Mark and Leslie Henderson in 2003, making it Mississippi's oldest packaging brewery since the Prohibition era.
The Hendersons, both engineers by profession, started homebrewing as a hobby. Their passion for brewing led them to establish Lazy Magnolia, named after the state tree of Mississippi. The brewery officially opened its doors in 2005, after a lengthy process of changing state laws that prohibited breweries from selling beer with an alcohol content higher than 6%.
Lazy Magnolia's first beer was the Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale, which is notable for being the first beer in the world made with whole roasted pecans. This beer won a bronze medal at the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.
The brewery has grown steadily since its inception, expanding its product line and distribution network. As of 2021, Lazy Magnolia distributes its beers in multiple states across the USA.
Lazy Magnolia is also known for its commitment to the local community and environment. The brewery uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, and it has implemented a number of sustainability initiatives, including a wastewater treatment system that reduces the impact of the brewing process on the local environment.
In 2019, Lazy Magnolia celebrated its 15th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its history as Mississippi's first and oldest packaging brewery.
