π Short History:
McMenamins Old Church Brewery, located in Wilsonville, Oregon, USA, is a part of the McMenamins family of brewpubs, breweries, music venues, historic hotels, and theater pubs. The McMenamins company was founded by brothers Mike and Brian McMenamin in 1983, with the opening of the Barley Mill Pub in Portland, Oregon.
The Old Church Brewery itself is housed in a historic church building that was originally built in 1911. The church was initially known as the "Community Church" and served as a place of worship for various denominations over the years. The church was later deconsecrated and stood vacant for a period of time.
In 2011, the McMenamins company purchased the old church building and began renovations to convert it into a brewery and pub. The renovations preserved much of the original architecture and design of the church, including the stained glass windows and wooden pews. The Old Church Brewery officially opened to the public in December 2011.
The brewery features a 10-barrel brewing system and produces a variety of craft beers. The venue also includes a restaurant, outdoor amphitheater, and a separate building known as the "Potter's Shed" which serves as a smaller pub.
The McMenamins Old Church Brewery is a unique blend of history and modern brewing, preserving a piece of Wilsonville's past while contributing to the vibrant craft beer scene in the Pacific Northwest.
