📜 Short History:
Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm is a farm brewery located in Mount Airy, Maryland, USA. The farm itself has been in operation since 1960, but the brewery was established much later, in 2013. It was one of the first farm breweries to open in Maryland.
The idea for the brewery came from Tom Barse and Carolann McConaughy, who had been growing hops on the farm since 2007. They saw an opportunity to create a unique farm-to-glass experience, using their own crops to produce craft beers.
The brewery's name, "Milkhouse," is a nod to the farm's dairy history. Before it was a brewery, the building that now houses the brewing equipment was used as a milking parlor for the farm's dairy cows.
Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm is known for its focus on classic beer styles, using traditional ingredients. They grow their own hops and barley on the farm, and also source other ingredients locally whenever possible.
As of 2021, the brewery continues to operate on the farm, offering a range of beers and hosting events for the local community.
