π Short History:
Montauk Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Montauk, New York. It was founded by three lifelong friends, Vaughan Cutillo, Eric Moss, and Joe Sullivan, who shared a passion for the coastal lifestyle and beer.
The idea of the brewery was conceived in 2012, and the founders began by distributing their own handcrafted beer out of a van. The brewery's logo, a red compass, was inspired by the founders' love for the ocean and their hometown.
In 2012, they opened the doors to their tasting room in a converted firehouse in downtown Montauk, which was originally built by Vaughan's father and other local firemen in 1999. This location became the seventh licensed brewery in Suffolk County.
The first beer they brewed was the Driftwood Ale, which is described as an English-style Pale Ale. Over the years, they have expanded their beer offerings to include a variety of styles like IPAs, lagers, and seasonal brews.
Montauk Brewing Company has grown to become a significant part of the local community, hosting events and supporting local causes. Despite its growth, the brewery maintains its commitment to its original vision of creating high-quality, handcrafted beer.
