π Short History:
Oakland United Beerworks, originally known as Linden Street Brewery, was founded in 2009 in Oakland, California. It was the first production brewery to open in Oakland since the closure of the Golden West Brewery in 1959. The founder was Adam Lamoreaux, who was the sole employee of the company at the time of its inception.
In 2016, Lamoreaux left the company and the brewery was rebranded as Oakland United Beerworks. The new team was led by John Karnay, a veteran brewer, and included Shane Aldrich, the lead brewer.
In 2017, Oakland United Beerworks moved from its original location on Linden Street to a new location at 262 2nd Street, still in Oakland. The new location includes a taproom, which was a new addition for the company. The brewery is known for its German-style lagers and British-style ales, although it produces a wide variety of beers.
As of the present day, Oakland United Beerworks continues to operate in its 2nd Street location, contributing to the vibrant craft beer scene in the San Francisco Bay Area.
