π Short History:
Phantom Canyon Brewing Company is a well-known brewery located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was established in December 1993, making it the city's oldest brewery currently in operation.
The brewery is housed in the historic Cheyenne Building, which was built in 1901. This building was originally home to the local offices of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad. The building was later used as a billiard hall before being transformed into the Phantom Canyon Brewing Company.
Phantom Canyon Brewing Company was inspired by the success of the Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver, which was Colorado's first brewpub. The founders of Phantom Canyon aimed to bring the same high-quality, locally brewed beer and friendly atmosphere to Colorado Springs.
The brewery has been successful since its inception, and it has expanded several times to meet demand. It now includes a billiard hall on the second floor, in a nod to the building's history.
Phantom Canyon Brewing Company is known for its wide variety of beers, which are all brewed on-site. The brewery has won several awards for its beers, including at the Great American Beer Festival.
The name "Phantom Canyon" refers to a local landmark, the Phantom Canyon Road. This road was built in 1894 and was originally a railway route. It is now a scenic drive, known for its beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and forests.
