π Short History:
Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. is a brewery located in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. The company was founded by Fritz Rahr and his wife Erin in 2004, making it one of the older craft breweries in the state of Texas.
The Rahr family has a long history in the brewing industry, dating back to the mid-19th century. Fritz Rahr is a fifth-generation brewer. His family started brewing in the United States in 1847 when his great-great-grandfather, William Rahr, emigrated from Rhineland, Germany, and established the Eagle Brewery in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The Eagle Brewery later became the Rahr Malting Co., which is still in operation today.
After moving to Texas from Wisconsin, Fritz and Erin Rahr started homebrewing, which eventually led to the establishment of Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. The brewery initially offered two beers, Rahr's Blonde Lager and Ugly Pug Black Lager.
The brewery faced a significant challenge in 2010 when a heavy snowfall caused the collapse of the brewery's roof. However, the brewery was able to rebuild and continue operations.
As of now, Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. produces a wide range of beers, including seasonal and special releases. The brewery has won numerous awards for its beers, including several medals at the Great American Beer Festival.
