📜 Short History:
Rockaway Brewing Company is a microbrewery located in Long Island City, New York. It was founded by Marcus Burnett and Ethan Long, two homebrewers who started brewing beer in their Far Rockaway backyards for their friends and surfers. The duo officially established the brewery in 2012, making it one of the earlier breweries in the recent craft beer boom in New York City.
The company initially began by brewing only kegs, which were distributed to local bars and restaurants. However, due to increasing demand, they expanded their operations and started offering growler fills at their brewery.
In 2015, Rockaway Brewing Company expanded its operation by opening a second location in the Rockaways, which included a tasting room. This allowed them to serve their beers directly to the public and offer a wider variety of styles.
The brewery is known for its range of beers, including the Rockaway ESB (Extra Special Bitter), the Black Gold Stout, and the High Plains Drifter, an American Pale Ale. They also produce seasonal beers and have a rotating selection of experimental brews.
As of now, Rockaway Brewing Company continues to operate in its original Long Island City location and the Rockaway Beach location, serving a variety of craft beers to the local community.
