📜 Short History:
Royal Docks Brewing Company is a Canton, Ohio-based brewery that was founded in 2015. The founders, John Bikis and Dave Sutula, were inspired by the vibrant pub culture they experienced during a trip to London, England. The name "Royal Docks" is a nod to the historic Royal Docks of London, a significant British shipping hub in the 19th and 20th centuries.
The brewery started with a 3,000 square foot taproom and a 15-barrel brewhouse in Jackson Township, Ohio. Their initial offerings included a variety of English-style ales, IPAs, and other craft beers. The founders' goal was to bring a piece of the British pub culture back to their hometown, focusing on creating a community gathering place where people could enjoy good beer and good company.
In 2016, just a year after opening, Royal Docks Brewing Company was awarded a gold medal at the World Beer Cup for their Pendragon Rarewit in the Belgian-Style Witbier category. This recognition helped to solidify their reputation as a quality craft brewery.
In 2018, the company expanded with the opening of a second location, a 16,000 square foot production facility and taproom called the "Foeder House". This facility allowed them to increase their production capacity and expand their distribution.
As of 2021, Royal Docks Brewing Company continues to operate in Canton, Ohio, producing a wide variety of craft beers and hosting community events. They have become a significant part of the local craft beer scene and continue to draw inspiration from British brewing traditions.
