π Short History:
Santiam Brewing Co. is a brewery located in Salem, Oregon, USA. It was founded in 2012 by a group of friends who shared a passion for beer. The founders include Matt Killikelly, Brian Sangston, Ian Croxall, and Jerome Goodrow. The brewery is named after the Santiam River, which is a tributary of the Willamette River in the state of Oregon.
Santiam Brewing Co. is known for its traditional British, German, and Belgian style beers. They also specialize in barrel-aged beer and cask ales. The brewery uses traditional British brewing methods and serves its cask ales at cellar temperature, which is a unique feature in the American craft beer scene.
In 2014, just two years after its establishment, Santiam Brewing Co. won a silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival for their Pirate Stout in the Wood and Barrel-Aged Strong Stout category. This recognition helped to put the brewery on the map and they have continued to produce award-winning beers since then.
In 2016, Santiam Brewing expanded its operations by adding a new 20-barrel brewhouse and four 40-barrel fermenters, which significantly increased their brewing capacity.
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Santiam Brewing Co. has continued to operate and serve its community, offering curbside pickup and home delivery options to its customers.
