📜 Short History:
Schlafly Bottleworks is a brewery located in Maplewood, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. It is part of The Saint Louis Brewery, which was founded by Tom Schlafly and Dan Kopman in 1991. The Schlafly Bottleworks location itself was opened in 2003, making it the second location for the company after the original Schlafly Tap Room in downtown St. Louis.
The Saint Louis Brewery was the first new brewpub to open in Missouri since Prohibition and has played a significant role in the craft beer movement in the United States. Schlafly Bottleworks was designed with sustainability in mind and includes a number of eco-friendly features, such as a rain garden and solar panels.
The brewery produces a variety of beers, including ales, lagers, stouts, and seasonal brews. It is known for its commitment to using local ingredients whenever possible. In addition to its brewing operations, Schlafly Bottleworks also features a restaurant and a venue for live music.
In 2012, a 60% stake in The Saint Louis Brewery was sold to Sage Capital, a private equity firm. However, the Schlafly family retained a significant stake in the company and continues to be involved in its operations.
As of 2021, Schlafly Bottleworks remains a popular destination for beer enthusiasts in the St. Louis area and beyond. It is one of the largest craft breweries in Missouri and continues to play a significant role in the state's brewing industry.
