π Short History:
Skagit River Brewery was founded in 1995 in Mount Vernon, Washington, USA. The brewery was established by Dr. Howard M. Miller, a retired physician, and Charlie Tilt, a former commercial fisherman. They started the brewery with the aim of creating a local establishment that would produce high-quality beers using locally sourced ingredients.
The brewery was initially located in a 5,000 square foot facility in downtown Mount Vernon. The founders started with a seven-barrel brewing system, which was later expanded to a 15-barrel system as the demand for their beers grew.
Skagit River Brewery was known for its wide range of beer styles, from traditional ales and lagers to more experimental brews. Some of their popular beers included the Sculler's IPA, Highwater Porter, and Gospel IPA.
In 2017, after more than two decades of operation, Skagit River Brewery announced its closure. The decision was made due to financial difficulties and the increasing competition in the craft beer market. The brewery officially closed its doors on January 15, 2017.
