π Short History:
Stony Creek Brewery is a craft brewery located in Branford, Connecticut, USA. The brewery was founded by Ed and Peggy Crowley, who had a vision to create a brewery where community, family, and friends could gather together.
The Crowleys began their journey into the brewing industry in 2010, when they launched a contract brewing company under the name Stony Creek Brewery. They brewed their beer at Thomas Hooker Brewery in Bloomfield, Connecticut, and at the time, they focused on creating traditional, European-style lagers.
In 2012, the Crowleys decided to expand their business and build their own brewing facility. They hired brewmaster Andy Schwartz in 2013, who brought with him a wealth of experience from his previous roles at breweries such as Oskar Blues Brewery in Colorado and Blue Point Brewing Company in New York.
The new Stony Creek Brewery facility officially opened its doors in February 2015. The 30,000 square foot space is located on the banks of the Branford River and features a tasting room, outdoor beer garden, and event space. The brewery also has a dock, allowing visitors to arrive by boat.
Stony Creek Brewery is known for its aggressive and innovative approach to brewing. They produce a range of beers, including lagers, ales, and specialty beers, with a focus on American craft styles and an emphasis on hop-forward brews. Some of their well-known beers include Stony Joe, a golden mocha stout, and Cranky, an IPA series.
As of the present day, Stony Creek Brewery continues to operate in Branford, serving both the local community and visitors from further afield. They remain committed to their original vision of creating a space where people can come together to enjoy great beer.
