π Short History:
Tig Bhric & West Kerry Brewery, also known as West Kerry Brewery, is a small Irish brewery located on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. It was established in 2008 by Adrienne Heslin, who is recognized as the first woman in modern Ireland to found a brewery.
Adrienne Heslin, an artist by profession, had been brewing beer at home for many years before she decided to turn her hobby into a business. She set up the brewery in the back of her pub, Tig Bhric, which has been in her family for over a century. The pub itself has a rich history, having been a hub for local musicians and artists for many years.
The West Kerry Brewery is one of the smallest breweries in Ireland, with a strong focus on quality over quantity. It is known for its traditional brewing methods and the use of locally sourced ingredients. The water used in the brewing process comes from a well on the property, and the barley is grown locally.
The brewery produces a range of ales, including Carraig Dubh Porter, Beal Ban Golden Ale, and Riasc Black. These beers are sold locally and are also available on tap at Tig Bhric.
In 2018, the brewery celebrated its 10th anniversary. Despite its small size, it has made a significant impact on the local economy and has contributed to the resurgence of craft brewing in Ireland.
