π Short History:
The Unknown Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was founded by Brad Shell in 2013. Brad, a seasoned brewer, had previously worked at several other breweries before deciding to start his own. The name "Unknown" was chosen to represent the adventurous spirit of the brewery, with the tagline "Step into the Unknown".
The brewery is located in a 15,000 square foot facility and started with a 30-barrel system. They initially began by offering three main beers: Over the Edge IPA, Head First Pale Ale, and No Shame Wheat. Over time, they expanded their beer offerings to include a variety of seasonal and specialty brews.
Unknown Brewing Company has made a name for itself with its creative and adventurous beers, as well as its commitment to the local community. They often host events and fundraisers, and have a strong focus on sustainability, with initiatives like a rooftop garden and a program to donate spent grain to local farmers.
In 2018, the brewery made headlines when its delivery van was stolen. They offered a keg party as a reward for its return, and the van was found within 42 minutes of the offer being posted on social media.
As of now, the Unknown Brewing Company continues to operate in Charlotte, offering a wide range of beers and hosting events for the local community.
