๐Ÿ“œ Short History:

Von Trapp Brewing is a family-owned brewery located in Stowe, Vermont, USA. The history of the brewery is deeply intertwined with the history of the von Trapp family, who are famously known from the 1965 musical drama film "The Sound of Music."

The von Trapp family, originally from Austria, fled to the United States during World War II to escape the Nazi regime. In 1942, they purchased a farm in Stowe, Vermont, which reminded them of their home in Austria. Over time, this farm evolved into the Trapp Family Lodge, a European-style resort that offers guests a little piece of Austria in America.

The idea of starting a brewery came from Johannes von Trapp, the youngest son of Georg and Maria von Trapp, who took over the management of the Trapp Family Lodge in the 1970s. Johannes, who grew up drinking the lagers of his native Austria, noticed the lack of traditional Austrian lagers in America and saw an opportunity to fill this gap.

In 2010, Johannes von Trapp started the von Trapp Brewing with the goal of producing Austrian-style lagers in the United States. The brewery initially started as a small-scale operation, with the beer being brewed in the basement of the lodge's bakery. The first beer they brewed was a traditional Austrian-style lager called "Trapp Lager."

Due to the popularity of their beers, von Trapp Brewing quickly outgrew its initial brewing space. In 2015, they opened a new 30,000 square foot brewery, which includes a state-of-the-art brewhouse, a beer hall, and an outdoor biergarten. The brewery now produces a variety of Austrian-style lagers, including Vienna-style lagers, Dunkel lagers, and Helles lagers.

Von Trapp Brewing has received numerous awards for their beers, including gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. Despite their success, the brewery remains a family-owned and operated business, committed to producing high-quality, traditional Austrian lagers.
