π Short History:
Waikiki Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was established in 2015, making it one of the newer additions to the Hawaiian brewing scene. The brewery was born out of a brewpub concept, initially starting as a small 7-barrel brewhouse situated in the former Cheeseburger Waikiki kitchen.
The founder of Waikiki Brewing Company is Joe Lorenzen, who was a former brewmaster at the Kona Brewing Company. Lorenzen's vision was to create a brewery that would offer a variety of craft beers with a distinct Hawaiian twist.
The brewery quickly gained popularity and by 2017, it expanded to a second location in Kaka'ako, which is a neighborhood in Honolulu. This second location features a 20-barrel brewhouse, allowing the company to increase its production.
Waikiki Brewing Company's beers have won several awards. For instance, their Black Strap Molasses Porter won a bronze medal at the 2016 World Beer Cup, a prestigious international beer competition.
As of now, Waikiki Brewing Company continues to operate in its two locations, offering a wide range of beers, including IPAs, porters, and blond ales, among others. They also offer brewery tours and have a pub-style restaurant at each location.
