π Short History:
Witch's Hat Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in South Lyon, Michigan, United States. The brewery was founded by Ryan and Erin Cottongim, a husband and wife team, who named the brewery after a historic South Lyon train depot, known as the Witch's Hat Depot.
The idea for the brewery was conceived in 2010, and after a year of planning and construction, Witch's Hat Brewing Company officially opened its doors to the public on December 26, 2011. The initial location was a small 1,200 square foot space with a 3-barrel brewing system.
In response to growing demand, the Cottongims expanded the brewery in 2014, moving to a new 7,000 square foot facility in South Lyon. The new location allowed them to increase their brewing capacity with a 10-barrel brewing system and expand their taproom to accommodate more customers.
Witch's Hat is known for its wide range of craft beers, including Train Hopper IPA, Night Fury Imperial Stout, and This Guy Double IPA. They also host various events throughout the year, such as their annual "Fury for a Feast" event, which combines a beer release with a food drive and fundraiser for local food banks.
The brewery continues to be a family-owned and operated business, with a strong commitment to their local community.
