π Short History:
Yazoo Brewing Company is a regional brewery located in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. The brewery was founded by Linus Hall in October 2003. Hall, a Mississippi native, developed a passion for homebrewing while in college and later decided to turn his hobby into a business after completing brewing school in Chicago and an apprenticeship at a brewery in Colorado.
The name "Yazoo" was inspired by the Yazoo River, which flows through Mississippi and is near where Hall grew up. The brewery's first location was in the Marathon Motor Works building in downtown Nashville. Initially, Yazoo had a modest production capacity, but the demand for its beer grew rapidly.
In 2010, due to increased demand and the need for expansion, Yazoo Brewing Company moved to a larger facility in The Gulch neighborhood of Nashville. This move allowed the company to increase its production and distribution capabilities.
Yazoo Brewing Company is known for producing a wide variety of beers, including their Pale Ale, Dos Perros, Hefeweizen, Sly Rye Porter, and the award-winning Sue, a smoked imperial porter. They also have a series of limited-release beers under the Embrace The Funk label, which are experimental beers often involving wild yeasts or bacteria, and aging in wine or spirits barrels.
In 2019, Yazoo announced plans to relocate again, this time to a new, larger location in Madison, a suburb of Nashville. The new location opened in 2020 and includes a taproom, event space, and an expanded production facility.
Throughout its history, Yazoo Brewing Company has been recognized for its quality beers and contribution to the craft beer industry in Tennessee and the broader Southeastern United States.
